    Admission Brochure for the 2026 Excellent Undergraduate Summer Camp of the School of Marxism, Shenzhen University

    The School of Marxism at Shenzhen University plans to hold the Excellent Undergraduate Summer Camp during the 2025 summer vacation to select outstanding students as candidates for exemption-based admission to the Master’s Program in Marxist Theory for 2026.

    The summer camp will be conducted in a hybrid format (online and offline) from July 6 to July 7, 2025.
    The camp will feature thematic academic lectures, faculty-student exchange meetings, and other activities to help participants gain a deeper understanding of the School of Marxism and the discipline of Marxist Theory.
    We warmly welcome excellent undergraduates from across the country who are passionate about the study and research of Marxist Theory to apply.


    I. About Shenzhen University

    Founded in 1983 with the approval of the Ministry of Education, Shenzhen University has, over 42 years, upheld the motto “Self-Reliance, Self-Discipline, and Self-Strengthening.”
    It has established a distinctive educational character as a “Special Economic Zone University, Window University, and Experimental University.”

    The university now has a complete talent cultivation system ranging from bachelor’s to master’s to doctoral programs and has developed into a comprehensive institution with diverse disciplines, advanced facilities, strong faculty, and standardized management.

    • Total staff: 4,413, including 2,857 full-time faculty members (670 professors, 1,039 associate professors, 1,118 lecturers).

    • Technical staff: 618, administrative staff: 938.

    • Postdoctoral researchers: 1,203, full-time research staff: 620.

    • High-level talents: 233 national, 115 provincial (Guangdong), and 2,293 municipal (Shenzhen) recognized experts.

    II. About the School of Marxism, Shenzhen University

    In October 2023, the School of Marxism was recognized as one of the first batch of Guangdong Provincial Key Schools of Marxism.
    Since 2003, it has successively obtained master’s degree authorization points in Marxist Theory and Ideological and Political Education, Basic Principles of Marxism, and the Sinicization of Marxism.
    In 2017, it received authorization for the first-level master’s degree in Marxist Theory.

    The school boasts a highly qualified and research-active faculty team:

    • 83 total staff members, including 71 full-time faculty.

    • Among full-time faculty: 15 professors (21%), 20 associate professors (28.2%), and 68 with doctoral degrees (95.8%).

    • Faculty include national youth scholars, central Marxist project experts, chief experts of major Ministry of Education projects, a Harvard visiting scholar, 2 members of the Guangdong Provincial Ideological and Political Teaching Steering Committee, and 21 recipients of Shenzhen’s “Pengcheng Peacock Distinguished Positions.”

    Over the years, the school has integrated Marxist theory with the practical development of the Special Economic Zone, forming distinctive characteristics.
    It has established numerous teaching and research platforms, including:

    • Institute for Reform and Opening-Up Studies,

    • Guangdong Research Base for Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era (Shenzhen University Base),

    • Institute for Migrant Culture Studies,

    • Center for Reform and Opening-Up History Studies,

    • Institute of Moral Culture,

    • Center for International Development Strategy,

    • Institute for Ecological Civilization and Green Development,

    • Institute for Contemporary Chinese Ideological and Cultural Studies, and

    • Center for Chinese System Philosophy Studies.

    The School adheres to a student-centered philosophy, ensuring high-quality training and strong employment outcomes for graduates.
    Many alumni have pursued doctoral studies at institutions such as Hong Kong Polytechnic University, South China University of Technology, and South China Normal University, while others work in Party and government organizations, enterprises, and public institutions in roles related to Party building, propaganda, and ideological-political education.

    The School of Marxism sincerely welcomes outstanding undergraduate students from top universities nationwide to apply for exemption-based admission to its master’s programs.

    III.Schedule

    • Check-in: July 6, 2025

    • Program activities: July 7, 2025

    • Location: Yuehai Campus, Shenzhen University

    • Activities: Opening ceremony, introduction to the school, academic lectures, and faculty-student exchange sessions (subject to the final agenda).

    IV. Application Requirements

    1. Applicants must have firm socialist ideals and beliefs, support the leadership of the Communist Party of China, abide by laws and regulations, maintain good conduct, integrity, and health, and be third-year undergraduates (Class of 2026) eligible for recommendation-based exemption.

    2. Applicants must have excellent academic performance, ranking within the top 30% of their major after the first three years. (Students with outstanding research achievements may be exempt from this requirement but must provide relevant proof.)

    3. Applicants must have a good command of English, with a CET-4 score of 425 or above.

    Priority will be given to students from universities qualified for recommendation-based exemption (as announced by the Ministry of Education) and those intending to apply for the 2026 Master’s Program at the School of Marxism.


    V. Enrollment Plan

    The camp will combine online and offline participation.
    Disciplines include Ideological and Political Education, Economics, Philosophy, History, Political Science, Sociology, and Law.

    • Offline participants: approximately 30 students

    • Online participants: no limit


    VI. Fees and Financial Support

    The summer school will be held in a hybrid mode (online + offline).
    The School will provide free accommodation and meals for offline participants from other regions during their stay in Shenzhen.

    Travel reimbursements will be provided as follows:

    • Up to 1,000 RMB for participants from outside Guangdong Province.

    • Up to 500 RMB for participants from within Guangdong Province.
      (Valid only for second-class high-speed rail tickets or public bus tickets.)

    Students from Shenzhen universities will receive free meals only (no accommodation or travel reimbursement).
    Reimbursements for students from remote regions may be appropriately increased.


    VII. Application Materials and Procedure

    1. Personal résumé

    2. Academic transcript (first five/six semesters, stamped by the academic affairs office)

    3. Proof of English proficiency (CET-4/6, TOEFL, IELTS, etc.)

    4. Award certificates (scanned copies)

    5. Research outputs (e.g., published papers, patents, etc., scanned copies)

    Application deadline: June 26, 2025 (subject to extension based on circumstances).

    Tip: Use Google Chrome (desktop) for registration.
    The system will only accept summer school applications before July 1; it will open for recommendation-based admission pre-registration afterward.

    VIII. Review and Admission

    The review and admission process will be completed by June 27, 2025.
