The School of Marxism’s Publicity Team Carries Out Grassroots Theoretical Outreach Activities Across Shenzhen’s Districts

    Date:2025-06-12

As an important base for Marxist theory education in the new era, the School of Marxism at Shenzhen University has always earnestly implemented General Secretary Xi Jinping’s instruction that “publicity and ideological work must focus on serving the overall interests of the Party and the country, identify key issues, and find the right entry points and focus areas.”

From April to May 2025, the School’s publicity team visited New Era Civilization Practice Centers across various districts of Shenzhen to carry out a series of grassroots theoretical lectures. This initiative served not only as a concrete action in fulfilling universities’ mission of “raising the flag, winning hearts, cultivating new talent, promoting culture, and shaping image,” but also as a vivid practice of bringing the Party’s innovative theories to the people’s daily lives.

Leveraging its disciplinary and talent advantages, the School organized outstanding faculty and students to go deep into communities, using plain and engaging language to explain Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era—making theoretical education more grounded, warm, and effective.

April 24: Promoting High-Quality Development of United Front Work

At the Xili Subdistrict New Era Civilization Practice Institute in Nanshan District, Associate Professor Huang Jichao delivered a lecture titled “Promoting High-Quality Development of United Front Work in the New Era — Learning and Implementing the Spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee.”
He shared key insights into advancing United Front work, stressing that it must not only better serve Chinese modernization but also play a greater role in promoting national reunification, contributing significantly to the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

April 29: Shenzhen’s Experience in Chinese-Style Technological Modernization

At the Bao’an District New Era Civilization Practice Center, Assistant Professor Tian Yuwan presented a lecture titled “Shenzhen’s Experience in Chinese-Style Technological Modernization and Its Implications.”
She began by analyzing the U.S. “three-in-one” trade, tariff, and technology wars against China under the Trump administration, pointing out their essence as an attempt to suppress China’s progress toward technological self-reliance through technological hegemony.
Tian emphasized General Secretary Xi Jinping’s assertion that “the key to Chinese modernization lies in technological modernization.” She highlighted Shenzhen’s successful practices in green technology, legal governance in science and technology, and cultural-technology integration, which together form a distinctive path of Party-led, people-oriented, innovation-driven technological development, offering valuable lessons for national modernization.

    May 28: Understanding Chinese-Style Modernization

At the Guangming District New Era Civilization Practice Center, Associate Professor Bao Yi delivered a lecture titled “Chinese-Style Modernization.”
He explained that Chinese-style modernization, under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, shares general features with other modernizations but possesses distinct characteristics based on China’s own realities.
He summarized it as modernization featuring:

    • a large population scale,

    • common prosperity for all,

    • coordinated material and spiritual advancement,

    • harmony between humanity and nature, and

    • a path of peaceful development.
The lecture was comprehensive and well-received, offering both theoretical depth and practical insight.

May 29: Mao Zedong’s Military Strategy and Its Contemporary Relevance

At the Xin’an Subdistrict New Era Civilization Practice Institute in Bao’an District, Associate Dean Ren Heng delivered a theoretical lecture titled “Why the Communist Party of China Can Succeed: Lessons from Mao Zedong’s Military Strategy.”
He highlighted the significance of Mao’s military thought—such as People’s War, guerrilla and flexible maneuver strategies, concentration of superior forces, and the dialectics of strategic offense and defense—in shaping both China’s revolutionary success and modern strategic thinking.
Ren encouraged grassroots staff to draw strategic wisdom from Mao’s ideas, cultivate a long-term, holistic perspective, and apply these lessons to practical community governance, thereby enhancing both their strategic vision and problem-solving capabilities.

May 29: Interpreting the Spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee

On the same day, at another Bao’an District New Era Civilization Practice Center, Professor Fu Heming gave a thematic lecture titled “An Interpretation of the Spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee.”
He analyzed the session’s essence from three dimensions:

    1. Historical — reviewing reform themes across successive plenums since reform and opening-up, identifying “What is socialism?” as the foundational question.

    2. Thematic — linking the Chinese path to modernization with insights from the 20th Party Congress, offering an in-depth interpretation.

    3. Philosophical — exploring the dialectical relationship between reform and revolution through a Marxist philosophical lens, explaining why “reform is also a revolution.”

Through these grassroots outreach activities, faculty and students of the School of Marxism deeply internalized General Secretary Xi Jinping’s profound insight that “once theory is grasped by the masses, it becomes a material force.”

The School will take this initiative as an opportunity to further innovate its theoretical dissemination methods and integrate Marxist education with grassroots practice.
Looking ahead, it will continue to leverage its disciplinary strengths to contribute to building a strong, cohesive, and guiding socialist ideology, allowing the Party’s innovative theories to shine even more brightly in the fertile soil of the Special Economic Zone.
