Red Script Interpretation: Teachers and Students Build Red Memories Together, Innovatively Reenacting Chapters of History

    Date:2024-09-30

To celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, to deeply study and implement the spirit of the 3rd Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, and to inspire teachers and students at Shenzhen University to carry forward the red gene and pioneer spirit while strengthening "one-stop" community service and management, the United Front Work Department and the Student Affairs Department of the Party Committee of Shenzhen University, together with the Party Committee of the School of Marxism, jointly launched a series of highly interactive, immersive, and impactful party-building themed activities on campus, aiming to create a new model of education and talent cultivation led by party-building and integrated into the "Big Ideological and Political Work" system.

On September 27th, the Student Affairs Department’s Counselor Development Center and the Wenshan Lake Student Community Party Working Committee, in collaboration with the Graduate Party Branch of the School of Marxism, held a "Red Script Interpretation" experience event at the Counselor's Home. The event featured the red script Lonely City, which is set in the Republican era and tells the story of seven players from different backgrounds, each harboring their own secrets, who come to the "Lonely City." Through role-playing, participants immerse themselves emotionally, enhancing their experience by breaking the "fourth wall" of the theatrical stage and the constraints of historical time and space. In this complex and entangled setting, they explore the challenging journey towards national revival and independence. Through interacting with the script, participants personally experience historical events from different periods, deeply appreciating the hardships of the revolutionary journey and profoundly feeling the brilliance of the Party's spirit and the national ethos.

After the event, the participating teachers and students were deeply moved and engaged in a lively discussion. They expressed that while the theme of the red revolution holds profound educational value, its traditional presentation can sometimes create a sense of detachment for those learning about history from a later perspective. The immersive atmosphere, historical presence, and interactive role-playing provided by the red script are seen as effective ways to bridge this gap. Following the "Red Script Interpretation" event, similar activities will be rolled out across the Shenzhen University campus. The plan includes introducing several complete and well-developed red scripts, recruiting hosts and several NPCs (Non-Player Characters) from the entire university, and offering reservation opportunities for teachers, students, and party branches to participate. The goal is to involve more teachers and students in these activities, building a strong platform for campus education on Party history, patriotism, and ideological-political education.
