    The School of Marxism Held an Expert Symposium to Study and Implement the Spirit of the National Education Conference

    On September 12, 2024, the School of Marxism at Shenzhen University held an expert symposium in Room 2623 of Huiwen Building to collectively study the spirit of the National Education Conference and engage in discussions. Attendees included Professor Wang Hong, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Marxism, Professor Liu Zhi, Dean of the School, Associate Professor Sun Tingting, Vice Dean Zhang Shoukui, Ren Heng, Deputy Party Secretary Wang Ping, as well as all professors and associate professors. The symposium was chaired by Secretary Wang Hong.

    Secretary Wang Hong emphasized the importance of thoroughly studying and implementing the spirit of the National Education Conference, with the fundamental goal of fostering virtue and nurturing talent. She stressed the need to educate people for the Party and cultivate talent for the nation by delivering high-quality ideological and political education (IPE) courses. Wang underscored the importance of fully, accurately, and comprehensively understanding the scientific essence and basic pathways to building a strong education system, in line with the conference's spirit. This will enhance the role of IPE courses as a key vehicle for moral and character education, further advancing the reform and innovation of IPE courses, and promoting the high-quality development of the School of Marxism.

    Dean Liu Zhi highlighted that IPE teachers must take the lead in learning, delve deeper into the conference's spirit, and fully comprehend it to lay a solid foundation for integrating it into IPE courses. He emphasized the need to combine the learning and implementation of the National Education Conference's spirit with the spirit of the 20th CPC Central Committee's Third Plenary Session and Xi Jinping’s important directives on the construction of IPE courses. Liu also called for strengthening theoretical interpretation and academic expression to effectively promote and explain the conference’s spirit.

    Experts at the symposium engaged in discussions on how to better integrate the spirit of the National Education Conference into IPE courses. They expressed that, as IPE teachers in the new era, they feel a strong sense of mission and responsibility. Going forward, they will further deepen their understanding of the conference’s spirit, focus on addressing contemporary issues, and remain committed to the core task of moral education. By innovating teaching methods, they aim to improve the quality of IPE courses and enhance their effectiveness in cultivating students' character and values.
