Speaker Biography

Du Baorui is an internationally renowned scholar with a PhD in Philosophy from National Taiwan University. He currently serves as a Distinguished Professor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Director of the Center for National Learning Education in the School of Humanities. He is also a lead lecturer at the Baopu Lecture Hall in Shanghai.

He previously served as:

  • Associate Professor in the Department of Philosophy at Huafan University (1995–2005)

  • Professor in the Department of Philosophy at National Taiwan University (2005–2017)

Professor Du specializes in Chinese philosophy and traditional culture, and has published more than 20 monographs across leading publishing houses in mainland China and Taiwan. His representative works include:

  • The Movement of Reversal in Dao (Hongtai Publishing, Taipei, 1995)

  • Kungfu Theory and the Philosophy of Spiritual Realm (Huawen Publishing, Beijing, 1999)

  • Fundamental Questions of Philosophy (Huawen Publishing, Beijing, 2000)

  • Methodology of Chinese Philosophy (Commercial Press, Taiwan, 2013)

  • A Study of the Truth Conception in Chinese Life Philosophy (People’s Publishing House, 2019)

  • Frontier Issues in Chinese Philosophy (Shanghai Jiao Tong University Press, 2024)

He has authored over 100 academic papers on Chinese philosophy and traditional culture.
