On the morning of May 7, 2026, the first event of the pairing and joint development between the School of Marxism of Shenzhen University and Meizhou City was held at the Meizhou Municipal Education Bureau. Liu Zhi, Dean of the School of Marxism of Shenzhen University and a Distinguished Professor, was invited to deliver a special tutorial lecture titled "Some Thoughts on Building an Education Powerhouse," officially launching the pairing and joint development between the two sides and their effort to strengthen grassroots theoretical arming.
The lecture provided a systematic exposition of the theoretical logic, the context of the times, the core essence and the practical path of building an education powerhouse. Taking "the urgency of China's transition from a large education system to a strong one" as its entry point, it offered an in-depth interpretation of the "three attributes," "six characteristics" and "eight systems" of an education powerhouse. Drawing on the patterns of the migration of global centers for scientific and technological innovation and on the current scale and quality of China's educational development, the lecture stressed that building an education powerhouse requires strengthening strategic thinking, holding fast to the original aspiration of fostering virtue through education, and earnestly strengthening the professional ethics and conduct of teachers, thereby providing clear ideas and practical guidance for Meizhou's effort to build itself into a city with a strong education system.
This event is a concrete step in implementing the arrangements for grassroots theoretical arming work at Guangdong's key schools of Marxism, deepening university-locality cooperation and advancing pairing and joint development. Under the pairing and joint development plan jointly formulated by the School of Marxism of Shenzhen University and the Publicity Department of the CPC Meizhou Municipal Committee, the two sides will carry out a series of cooperation activities focused on decision-making consultation, theoretical tutorials, grassroots outreach and assistance to local schools of Marxism.
On the afternoon of the same day, the signing ceremony for the pairing and joint development between the School of Marxism of Shenzhen University and the School of Marxism of Guangdong Meizhou Vocational and Technical College was successfully held. Through "one-to-one" targeted assistance, the two sides will carry out in-depth cooperation such as sharing course resources, conducting joint research and efforts to tackle key problems in teaching and research, and jointly developing practice teaching bases for ideological and political education, helping the local school of Marxism improve its quality and efficiency and further solidifying the foundation for university-locality pairing and joint development.
Going forward, the expert team of the School of Marxism of Shenzhen University will successively deliver theoretical tutorial lectures for the theoretical study groups of Meizhou's municipal-level departments, and its outreach team will go to the grassroots in the counties (county-level cities) and districts of Meizhou to carry out theoretical outreach, so as to bring the Party's innovative theories into people's hearts and to the grassroots and to solidify the ideological foundation and gather spiritual strength for forging ahead in the accelerated revitalization and common prosperity of Meizhou, a former revolutionary base area.
