    The School of Marxism Visits the School of Marxism at Hunan Normal University for a Research Exchange — *Jointly Exploring New Pathways for Discipline Development

    On the afternoon of September 23, 2025, a delegation of five from the School of Marxism at Shenzhen University, led by Dean Professor Liu Zhi, visited the School of Marxism at Hunan Normal University for a research and exchange program. The symposium was held in the Lide Lecture Hall on the first floor of the South Building of the School of Marxism at Hunan Normal University. Participants included Li Yongbo, Secretary of the Party Committee; Li Chaomin, Acting Dean; members of the leadership team; and heads of various departments. Both sides engaged in in-depth discussions centered on the development of Marxist theory as an academic discipline.

    The meeting began with warm welcomes from Secretary Li Yongbo and Acting Dean Li Chaomin, who provided a systematic overview of the School’s historical evolution, faculty strengths, discipline construction, curriculum development, research achievements, and distinctive advantages—particularly in integrated ideological and political education across primary, secondary, and higher education in Hunan Province, as well as in Party building, faculty training, and teaching competitions.

    Dean Liu Zhi then introduced the history, faculty team, research projects, and teaching innovations of the School of Marxism at Shenzhen University. He emphasized that as a key School of Marxism in Guangdong Province, the School adheres to the principles of integrity and innovation, leveraging Shenzhen’s practical experience in reform and opening-up and establishing reform-and-opening-up studies as a signature disciplinary direction. He noted that the purpose of this visit was to learn comprehensively from the advanced experience of Hunan Normal University’s School of Marxism.

    During the symposium, both sides engaged in deep discussions on key topics such as discipline development, reform of ideological and political theory (IPT) courses, research organization and achievement cultivation, talent development and faculty building, and the formulation of the “15th Five-Year Plan.” They also exchanged views on issues including postgraduate training innovation, faculty evaluation systems, challenges in discipline development, young faculty development, and resource integration.

    Dean Liu Zhi remarked that the well-established institutional framework, strong team cohesion, and profound academic tradition of Hunan Normal University’s School of Marxism were deeply inspiring and offered valuable insights for the development of Shenzhen University’s School of Marxism. Secretary Li Yongbo expressed that Shenzhen University’s School of Marxism enjoys significant geographic advantages and strong development potential, expressing hope for deeper cooperation and mutual learning between the two schools in the future.

    The exchange concluded in a warm and engaging atmosphere. It not only enabled the two institutions to share valuable experience in discipline development but also established a bridge for long-term collaboration, injecting new momentum into the high-quality development of the School of Marxism at Shenzhen University.
