The School of Marxism Conducts a New Round of Grassroots Theoretical Publicity Activities in Cheng District, Shanwei City

    Date:2025-04-21

As one of the first key Schools of Marxism in Guangdong Province, the School of Marxism at Shenzhen University has fully leveraged its strengths in theoretical research, talent cultivation, and exemplary leadership in ideological dissemination. In 2024, the school organized over one hundred grassroots theoretical publicity sessions across districts of Shenzhen and counties of Shanwei, continuously advancing the Party’s innovative theories into the homes and hearts of ordinary people. These activities received high praise from local Party members, grassroots officials, and the general public. On April 18, 2025, the School of Marxism officially launched its 2025 Grassroots Theoretical Publicity Program, with Associate Dean Ren Heng leading the first team to visit various New Era Civilization Practice Centers and Stations in towns and subdistricts of Cheng District, Shanwei City, continuing to contribute to the dissemination of the Party’s innovative theories at the grassroots level.

At the Xiangzhou Subdistrict New Era Civilization Practice Station, Associate Professor Ren Heng delivered a thematic lecture titled “Why the Communist Party of China Can Succeed: Inspirations from Mao Zedong’s Military Strategy.” Ren emphasized the historical significance of Mao Zedong’s military thought, which not only shaped China’s revolutionary course but also provided important insights for global military theory — including the strategies of People’s War, flexible guerrilla warfare, concentration of superior forces, and the dialectic between strategic defense and strategic offense. He encouraged grassroots workers to learn from Mao’s strategic wisdom, enhance their overall strategic vision, and develop the ability to think from a strategic perspective. Ren stressed that everyone can cultivate strategic awareness through grassroots work, accumulate experience, and achieve breakthroughs in their positions. The lecture inspired participants to draw practical insights from Mao’s strategic thinking and apply them to real-world work contexts.

At the Xincheng Subdistrict New Era Civilization Practice Station, Associate Professor Huang Jichao gave a lecture titled “Promoting High-Quality Development of the United Front Work in the New Era — Studying and Implementing the Spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee.” Huang elaborated on the core content of advancing the United Front work in the new era, emphasizing its role in serving economic development, promoting Chinese-style modernization, advancing national reunification, and ensuring domestic and international stability and security — thus strengthening its vital function in uniting hearts and gathering strength for national rejuvenation.

At the Dongchong Town New Era Civilization Practice Station, Assistant Professor Li Shengtao presented a lecture titled “The Communist Party of China’s Tradition of Investigation and Research.” Li began by tracing the origin of the famous statement “No investigation, no right to speak,” highlighting the Party’s long-standing emphasis on investigation and research. He then focused on Mao Zedong’s investigative work during the Jinggangshan period and the Three Major Transformations. Throughout the lecture, Li illustrated practical examples — such as how to conduct forums and perform “dissecting the sparrow” investigations — making the discussion vivid and relatable.

At the Jiesheng Town New Era Civilization Practice Station, Assistant Professor Cheng Yushu delivered a thematic lecture titled “Deeply Understanding the Spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s Important Instructions on Guangdong.” Cheng reviewed the main points of Xi Jinping’s instructions and directives for Guangdong since 2012, analyzing them through five dimensions — reform logic, development logic, innovation logic, dynamic logic, and strategic logic. Using charts and data, Cheng demonstrated Guangdong’s multifaceted role in the national economy while also identifying challenges related to unbalanced regional development. From the reform perspective, she discussed the province’s new situations and challenges in pursuing high-quality development and institutional openness, offering targeted reform suggestions. The lecture concluded with reflections on Guangdong’s mission and responsibility in achieving high-quality development under new circumstances.

At the Hongcao Town Party School, Assistant Professor Chen Xiangyu presented a theoretical lecture titled “Policy Interpretation of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee.” Focusing on seven key topics of the plenary session — including building a high-standard socialist market economy system, developing whole-process people’s democracy, strengthening socialist cultural development, improving people’s livelihoods, and building a Beautiful China — Chen provided an in-depth analysis of the guiding principles for deepening reform. He highlighted the need to summarize and apply the valuable experiences of reform and opening-up, especially those from the new era, while adhering to principles such as maintaining the Party’s overall leadership, the people-centered approach, integrity and innovation, institutional development, rule of law, and systematic thinking.

At the Fengshan Subdistrict New Era Civilization Practice Station, Assistant Professor Li Ming delivered a specialized lecture titled “Deeply Understanding the Spirit of the Eight Provisions of the CPC Central Committee.” Li guided grassroots Party members and public representatives through the origins, contents, and significance of the Eight Provisions, explaining their essence and the common manifestations of violations. In connection with the current nationwide study campaign on implementing the spirit of the Eight Provisions, Li encouraged grassroots cadres and citizens to internalize the regulations and apply them in daily work and life, upholding integrity and discipline.

At the Magong Subdistrict New Era Civilization Practice Station, Assistant Professor Zhao Leilei presented a theoretical lecture titled “Thoroughly Studying the Spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee — Promoting the Integrated Development of Education, Science, and Talent.” The lecture covered three key aspects: (1) the historical background of proposing the integrated development of education, science, and talent in socialist construction; (2) the historical evolution of this integration; and (3) the key directives of the Third Plenary Session regarding the coordinated development of these three fields. Drawing on the achievements since the Third Plenary Session of the 18th CPC Central Committee, Zhao analyzed the main directions for advancing the integrated development of education, science, and talent in the new era.

Grassroots theoretical publicity carries the important mission of spreading the Party’s innovative theories — a task that the School of Marxism at Shenzhen University attaches great importance to. The lecturers focused on overcoming the common challenges in grassroots theoretical work, such as content being “hard to understand,” “hard to absorb,” or “hard to remember.” They transformed abstract and academic language into vivid and relatable expressions, enhanced the relevance of their topics, and maintained a well-paced rhythm throughout the sessions. By explaining principles through examples, they ensured that the content felt “fresh yet familiar” to listeners, leaving a deep impression.

The 2025 grassroots theoretical publicity program of the School of Marxism at Shenzhen University has now been fully launched. In the coming months, the school will continue to expand its activities across various districts of Shenzhen and counties of Shanwei, promoting the normalization, deepening, and long-term effectiveness of theoretical dissemination — ensuring that the Party’s innovative theories continue to serve the development of grassroots society.
