On July 7, 2025, the School of Marxism at Shenzhen University successfully held the 2026 Excellent Undergraduate Summer Camp. The camp adopted a hybrid format of online and offline participation. Offline, 43 outstanding students from universities such as China University of Petroleum (Beijing), Central China Normal University, Xiangtan University, Nanchang University, Xinjiang University, and Yanbian University joined the event. Meanwhile, 357 participants took part online. The event was hosted by Associate Dean Sun Tingting of the School of Marxism.

I. First Encounter with Shenzhen University: Opening the Camp, Capturing Youthful Memories
In the morning, the opening ceremony of the summer camp was held in Exhibition Hall No. 3 of the Shenzhen University Museum (Alumni Square, First Floor). Associate Dean Sun Tingting extended a warm welcome to all participants and introduced the unique connection between Shenzhen University and the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone since the university’s founding — growing and advancing together. She encouraged the students to experience deeply the vitality and charm of Shenzhen University, and in particular, to appreciate the distinctive character of the School of Marxism, which has thrived on the frontier of China’s reform and opening up.

Wang Ping, Deputy Party Secretary of the School of Marxism, also attended the ceremony. She introduced the school’s student affairs work and expressed her hope to welcome the participants back to the School of Marxism as graduate students, sharing three wonderful years together in the future.

Afterwards, the students were divided into four groups for ice-breaking activities, which helped them quickly bond and build team spirit. Through interactive games such as Shenzhen University trivia and the collection of customized bookmarks and souvenirs, the participants gained a deeper understanding of the university. They also left messages to their future selves on the Shenzhen University Museum’s “Time Capsule” platform, capturing a precious memory of youth at Shenzhen University.


II. Entering the School of Marxism: Academic Sharing and Paths of Growth
The group then moved to Room 2623 of the Huiwen Building for a teacher-student academic exchange session. Dean Liu Zhi delivered a welcome speech titled “The Value and Meaning of Choosing the School of Marxism at Shenzhen University.” He summarized the school’s core advantages with the concept of “timing, location, and harmony.” Dean Liu emphasized that the School of Marxism offers vast opportunities for growth — from aligning with the spirit of the times, to enjoying the strong support of the city and university, to benefiting from a robust faculty and academic platform. He encouraged the students to choose Shenzhen University’s School of Marxism, to advance with reform and grow with the era.

Following the Dean’s address, faculty members Huang Yuexi, Zheng Xiangping, Zou Yizheng, and Huang Jichao, along with Li Cheng, an outstanding 2022 graduate, engaged with the students:
Professor Huang Yuexi, speaking as both a “20-year Shenzhen resident” and an “ordinary teacher,” shared heartfelt reflections on life and work, painting a vivid picture of the unique appeal of Shenzhen, Shenzhen University, and the School of Marxism.
Professor Zheng Xiangping centered her talk around the theme of “choice.” She sincerely addressed the students’ questions about life decisions, sharing her own experiences of growth and fulfillment as a teacher at Shenzhen University’s School of Marxism.
Associate Professor Huang Jichao, drawing on his teaching and research experience, focused on the importance of “problem consciousness.” He offered pragmatic and insightful advice on anchoring personal direction and clarifying academic values, emphasizing that while the School maintains high academic standards, it also respects individual choices.
Professor Zou Yizheng shared his current research focuses and the frontiers of academic exploration, expressing his anticipation for collaborative research between teachers and students and highlighting the school’s academic depth and vitality.

Finally, Li Cheng, the outstanding graduate of 2022, joined the session online. Using the themes “Building Dreams, Pursuing Dreams, and Fulfilling Dreams,” he recounted his enriching experience at the School of Marxism, offering the participants a genuine and inspiring glimpse into academic and personal growth at Shenzhen University.

III. Experiencing Shenzhen: Learning and Sensing the Pulse of Innovation
In the afternoon, the students visited the Shenlove Talent Pavilion located in Shenzhen Talent Park, where they explored the city’s dynamic development and experienced firsthand how Shenzhen drives progress with talent as its foundation and innovation as its engine. During the study tour, participants paused to observe exhibits, touched high-tech materials, and immersed themselves in the “Shenzhen Speed,” feeling the strong pulse of innovation that defines this city — and growing ever more inspired by its spirit.


IV. Sharing Reflections: A Fulfilling Conclusion and a Promise for the Future
The closing ceremony of the summer camp was held in the Huiwen Building Room 2623. Associate Dean Sun Tingting delivered a summary speech, affirming the excellent performance of all participants and sincerely inviting them to apply for admission to the School of Marxism at Shenzhen University.
Sun Ming, a participant from Yanbian University, delivered a speech on behalf of all students, expressing heartfelt gratitude to the school for organizing the camp. She summarized her experience with three key words: “fate,” “fulfillment,” and “reunion,” and said she looked forward to returning to the School of Marxism as a graduate student.
Zou Wenhai, a participant from Yunnan Normal University, remarked that he was deeply impressed by Shenzhen University’s academic strengths in the field of Reform and Opening-up studies, and believed that the school provides fertile ground for his academic interests. Afterwards, all participants shared their personal reflections and received completion certificates for the summer camp.


The online live broadcast of the camp achieved remarkable engagement. Covering the entire event, it garnered nearly 6,000 likes, over 900 shares, and more than 1,500 comments, creating a vibrant and interactive online atmosphere.

This summer camp served as a bridge for participants to gain an in-depth understanding of the School of Marxism at Shenzhen University — its development journey, disciplinary strengths, and talent cultivation model. It provided a comprehensive showcase of the school’s achievements in academic research, teaching innovation, and social practice, allowing students to experience its strong scholarly environment and distinctive cultural charm.
With that, the 2026 Excellent Undergraduate Summer Camp of the School of Marxism at Shenzhen University concluded successfully.
