The bright moon carries our deep concern for home and country. In the evening of September 24, on the occasion of the 40thanniversary of Shenzhen University and the eve of the Mid-Autumn Festival, the Marxism College of Shenzhen University held a starry night talk with the theme of “Unity in Bright Moon”, integrating the excellent traditional Chinese culture and ideological education to create an ideological and political course with youthful vigor and good atmosphere, where teachers and students could make nice conversations about youth under the moon and the stars.
Wang Ping, Deputy Secretary of Party Committee of Marxism College, Feng Jinyu, a youth ideological and political teacher of Marxism College, Xian Jun, an outstanding alumnus of Marxism College, Bian Kebing, a counselor of Marxism College and nearly 40 students of the college participated in this activity.
At the beginning of this activity, Deputy Secretary Wang Ping mentioned that recently, the Marxism College of Shenzhen University was selected as one of the first key Marxism colleges in Guangdong Province, which is a great affirmation and encouragement for our college. We have always been committed to the goal of high-quality talent training, and has made due contributions to the cultivation of socialist builders and successors with all-round development of morality, intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics and labor. She expressed high hopes for the new students to inherit and carry forward the fine tradition of our college, have a strong sense of collective honor and belonging, actively participate in the work and public services of our college, and make their own contributions to the development of our college; to actively give full play to creativity, activate innovative thinking, and create featured activities with higher quality and stronger ideological and political nature; to enhance the sense of responsibility and mission, strengthen the awareness of leadership and demonstration, and through three years of study, shape themselves into ideological and political talents with distinct characteristics of the Marxism College, i.e. “a strong sense of politics, strong emotion, new mindset, broad vision, strict self-discipline, and personal integrity”.
Afterwards, the young teacher Feng Jinyu shared the story about the great leader Chairman Mao and the Mid-Autumn Festival in combination with the theme of the activity, and shared his feelings and opinions about working in the Marxism College through his own learning experience, giving the students a good ideological and political lesson. The teacher Feng Jinyu also said that as a member of the Marxism College, we should have emotions, ideals and beliefs to learn and spread Marxism, and contribute to the society and the country together.
The students actively asked about “how to sit on the bench to read and learn”, “how to make future developmentplanning” and other questions. The teacher Feng Jinyu proposed such specific learning methods as setting up a reading group, reading notes, book reviews etc., and said that in the future planning, the students should begin with the end in mind, learn how to study and grow, constantly develop themselves, keep on trying, and find their own suitable and interested direction ofmoving forward.
Then, Xian Jun, an outstanding graduate of the Marxism College and a doctoral student in the School of Marxism of South China Normal University, based on his own experience and social current affairs, shared with the students from aspects of personal development planning and how to deal with complex issues. First, he elaborated on the importance of strengthening action, and encouraged the students to take more pain of thinking. Second, he emphasized the significance of combining theory and practice to cultivate their interdisciplinary ability and the ability to look at problems, analyze problems and solve problems on the basis of learning the professional knowledge of their own major, so as to better apply the academic knowledge to social practice.
After the sharing, the teachers and alumni present at the meeting distributed mooncakes to the students. Under the distant starlight, the students tasted those mooncakes and talked about their youth ideals, enjoying the most beautiful moments together.
In the end, the “Starry Night Talk” activity was successfully concluded with cheerful games and wonderful performances of the students, achieving a good effect of teaching through lively activities.
