Personal Profile
Xu Jianhua, member of the Communist Party of China, Professor, and Director of the Reform and Opening-up History Research Center at Shenzhen University. He is the lead scholar for the Master's program in the Study of Basic Issues in Modern Chinese History at the School of Marxism.
Xu Jianhua graduated from the inaugural class of the Humanities Experiment Program at Wuhan University. In 2001, he studied at the University of California, and in 2004, he received his Ph.D. in International Relations and Chinese Diplomacy from Wuhan University. His primary research areas are China's diplomatic strategy, the practice of reform and opening up and the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone, and the technological policies of the Chinese Communist Party.
Research Projects:
He has led projects funded by the National Social Science Fund, the Guangdong Provincial Philosophy and Social Science Planning Project, and key projects of the Shenzhen Decision Advisory Committee. He has also participated in several major National Social Science Fund research projects. Xu has published dozens of academic papers in journals such as <i>World History, Wuhan University Journal, and International Forum, with several papers reprinted in China Social Sciences Digest, China University Social Sciences Journal Digest, and Renmin University Reprints of Newspapers and Journals. He has received the Third Prize for Outstanding Achievements in Social Science Research in the Fourth Social Science Research Award of Hubei Province and the First Prize for Outstanding Achievements in Philosophy and Social Sciences in Shenzhen. Many of his advisory reports have been adopted by central and provincial departments, receiving commendations from the top central leadership.
