The School of Marxism (School of Social Sciences) at Shenzhen University, rooted in the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone, is known for its bold innovations and distinctive features. Leveraging Shenzhen's unique geographical advantages, the school has established eight teaching and research platforms in recent years. These include the Immigration Culture Research Center, Deng Xiaoping Theory Research Center, Contemporary Chinese Thought and Culture Research Institute, Moral Culture Research Institute, Philosophy and Social Science Research Institute, Chinese System Philosophy Research Center, Shenzhen International Development Strategy Research Center, and the nation's first College Ideological and Political Theory Scene Simulation Experiment Teaching Center.

The school currently has 61 faculty members, including 52 full-time teachers, 8 professors, and 15 associate professors, with 40 faculty members holding doctoral degrees. The faculty is recognized nationwide for its excellence, with two members serving on the Ideological and Political Theory Course Steering Committee of Guangdong Province, two talents cultivated under the “Thousand-Hundred-Ten Talent Project” of Guangdong Province, one Guangdong “Famous College Teacher”, one teaching model for Ideological and Political Theory in Guangdong, and two academic leaders at Shenzhen University.

The school also boasts significant research accomplishments. Since 2015, the faculty has undertaken more than 100 research projects, including one major National Social Science Fund project, 15 general NSSF projects, and 30 provincial-level projects. Faculty members have published 100 CSSCI journal articles, including 3 in Social Sciences in China and 4 in Marxist Studies. Over 10 academic monographs have been published by prestigious publishers, and the school has won 5 Philosophy and Social Sciences Achievement Awards in Guangdong Province.

Over the past five years, the School of Marxism has worked to develop a more comprehensive and distinctive academic system. The school has established five master’s programs, which include:

  1. Ideological and Political Education (taught by 4 professors and 2 associate professors)

  2. Marxist Principles (taught by 1 professor and 1 associate professor)

  3. Localization of Marxism (taught by 1 professor and 2 associate professors)

  4. History of Marxist Development (taught by 1 professor)

  5. Research on Fundamental Issues of Modern and Contemporary Chinese History (taught by 1 professor and 4 associate professors)

Looking forward, the School of Marxism will continue to uphold the spirit of reform and innovation, cultivating talented individuals with both integrity and ability to contribute to national and regional development. The school is dedicated to supporting the university’s goal of becoming a high-level institution and aims to establish itself as the most influential Marxism school in Guangdong Province.
