Speaker Bio:

Lin Qing holds a PhD in Philosophy and is a professor and PhD supervisor at the School of Marxism, Fudan University. He is also an affiliated researcher at Fudan University’s Research Center for Contemporary Foreign Marxism and Sun Yat-sen University’s Institute for Marxist Philosophy and Modernization in China. His research focuses on Marxist philosophy and foreign Marxist studies. Lin serves on the boards of the Chinese Association for the History of Marxist Philosophy, the Association for Marx and Engels Textual Studies, and the Chinese Society for Marx and Engels Studies. He has led multiple projects funded by the National Social Science Foundation, the Ministry of Education Humanities and Social Science Fund, and the National Ethnic Affairs Commission. He has published two monographs, Research on Althusser’s Radical Political Discourse and The Birth and Variations of Modern Society, and over 40 academic papers in top journals, including Philosophical Research, Academic Monthly, and Marxism & Reality. Many of his papers have been reprinted in full by Chinese Social Science Digest and Renmin University Reprints in Philosophy. Lin has received several awards, including the title of "Shanghai Social Science Newcomer," the Shanghai Philosophy and Social Science Excellence Award (Rising Scholar Award), the "Shanghai Leading Talent in Marxist Theory Teaching and Research," the Haigonghai Academic Fund Second Prize for Academic Papers, and the Shanghai Excellent PhD Dissertation Award.

Discussant Bios:

Ma Wandong holds a PhD in Philosophy and is an Associate Professor and Master’s Supervisor at the School of Marxism, Southern Medical University. He is also a researcher at the Center for Practical Philosophy Studies, Sun Yat-sen University. Ma has led projects funded by the National Social Science Foundation, the Ministry of Education Humanities and Social Science Fund, and Guangdong Province’s Humanities and Social Science Fund. He has published nearly 20 papers in journals such as Marxism & Reality, Academic Research, and Modern Philosophy, with several reprinted in full by Renmin University Reprints in Philosophy.

Deng Pan is an Assistant Professor at the School of Marxism, Shenzhen University, and holds a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Munich, Germany. His academic publications include three books published in Germany: Hegel's Dialectical Method and His Positive-Negative View on Chinese Philosophy (2016), Dialectical Reconstruction of Hegel's Philosophy of Right (2022), and China's Encounter with Foreign Cultures: The Reception of Hegel’s Philosophy in China (2022). Deng has also published more than ten academic papers in both Chinese and international journals.
