The School of Marxism Carries Out the Third Batch of 2025 Grassroots Theoretical Publicity Activities in Shanwei City Under the Pairing and Co-construction Program

    Date:2025-10-20

To further advance the dissemination of the Party’s innovative theories among the general public, on October 16, 2025, the School of Marxism at Shenzhen University organized a faculty lecture team to carry out the third batch of grassroots theoretical publicity activities in Shanwei City under the pairing and co-construction initiative. The destination for this round was Haifeng County. Led by Deputy Dean Ren Heng, seven faculty members, drawing upon their academic expertise and professional strengths, visited seven towns and subdistricts to conduct theoretical lectures, offering local cadres and residents an enriching and inspiring learning experience.

Ren Heng: “Why Can the Communist Party of China Succeed? — The Contemporary Insights of Mao Zedong’s Military Strategy”

At the New Era Civilization Practice Station in Xinshan Village, Fucheng Town, Deputy Dean Ren Heng delivered a lecture titled “Why Can the Communist Party of China Succeed? — The Contemporary Insights of Mao Zedong’s Military Strategy.”

Ren emphasized that Mao Zedong’s military strategy holds an eminent place in Chinese history, profoundly influencing the course of the Chinese Revolution while contributing valuable insights to global military thought. Core principles such as the “People’s War,” “flexible and mobile guerrilla warfare,” “concentration of superior forces,” and the “dialectics of offense and defense” remain highly relevant. Using Mao’s strategic thinking as a key, Ren decoded the deeper logic behind “why the CPC can succeed.” From the “Four Crossings of the Chishui River” to the dialectical interplay between political and military struggles, and from the wisdom of “strategic contempt but tactical prudence,” he systematically unpacked Mao’s strategic essence. By integrating military wisdom with present-day governance and strategic challenges, he offered actionable insights for grassroots management and practical struggles—demonstrating the enduring vitality of the Party’s winning genes.

Liu Huayun: “Exploring Pathways to Deepen Party-led Urban Community Governance”

At the Haifeng County New Era Civilization Practice Center, Associate Professor Liu Huayun delivered a detailed lecture titled “Exploring Pathways to Deepen Party-led Urban Community Governance.”

Drawing upon solid theoretical foundations and rich empirical research, Liu addressed pressing issues in grassroots governance such as shrinking spaces for self-governance, insufficient multi-party participation, and lagging service efficiency. By analyzing model cases from Beizhan and Pingshan communities, he identified key contradictions and proposed a solution centered on clarifying and strengthening the Party’s leadership role in community governance. Liu argued that the essence of Party-led community governance lies in systematically embedding Party organizations into the main framework of community governance, thereby mobilizing diverse forces—residents, market actors, and social organizations—to participate. This approach helps coordinate and optimize community resources, ultimately achieving the goal of co-construction and co-governance. The lecture was both intellectually rigorous and practically insightful, outlining a “construction blueprint” for how Party leadership can guide community governance.

Li Jie: “How to View Traditional Culture Correctly”

At the New Era Civilization Practice Station in Meilong Village, Meilong Town, Assistant Professor Li Jie delivered a lecture titled “How to View Traditional Culture Correctly.”

Li argued that the question of how to approach traditional culture has been a key issue facing the Chinese people since modern times. Given the profound transformations China has undergone in the past century, various attitudes have emerged—some problematic, such as treating traditional culture uncritically or exploiting it merely as a tool for profit while neglecting its inner essence. Li emphasized that the correct attitude toward traditional culture should be guided by scientific rationality and a people-centered perspective, reforming it according to the needs of modern society. Only in this way can traditional culture truly serve contemporary social development.

Li Shengtao: “The Research and Investigation Tradition of the Communist Party of China”

At the New Era Civilization Practice Station in Poping Village, Lian’an Town, Assistant Professor Li Shengtao delivered a lecture titled “The Research and Investigation Tradition of the Communist Party of China.”

Starting from Mao Zedong’s investigative work in Jinggangshan, Li analyzed how to conduct symposiums and select research subjects effectively. He then used Mao’s essay “On the Ten Major Relationships” to illustrate how to listen to reports and deliver findings in the research process. The lecture provided a practical and instructive model for grassroots cadres to carry out investigation and research in line with the principle of seeking truth from facts.

Chen Xiangyu: “Interpreting the Policies of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee”

At the New Era Civilization Practice Institute in Gongping Town, Assistant Professor Chen Xiangyu delivered an in-depth interpretation of the policies adopted at the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee.

Chen systematically analyzed the six major principles that must guide the comprehensive deepening of reform and their internal logical relationships. He focused on key economic and livelihood-related reforms, including building a high-standard socialist market economy system, promoting high-quality development, and improving the macroeconomic governance framework. The lecture offered ideological guidance to local cadres and citizens for better understanding the spirit of the Third Plenary Session and preparing for the upcoming Fourth Plenary Session.

Li Ming: “Studying General Secretary Xi Jinping’s Important Expositions on Pioneering and Demonstration”

At the New Era Civilization Practice Institute in Ketang Town, Assistant Professor Li Ming gave a lecture titled “Studying General Secretary Xi Jinping’s Important Expositions on Pioneering and Demonstration.”

Li explained that since the 18th National Congress of the CPC, the central leadership and General Secretary Xi Jinping have repeatedly emphasized the concept of “pioneering and demonstration,” reflecting a deepened understanding and application of the laws governing socialist development. He noted that pioneering and demonstration embody a universal principle of the international communist movement and represent an inheritance and innovation of the CPC’s traditional “pilot zone” approach. Xi’s important expositions provide direct guidance for the establishment of pilot and demonstration zones across China, with particular relevance for Guangdong’s goal of “taking the lead” in national modernization.

Zhao Leilei: “Coordinated Promotion of the Integrated Development of Education, Science and Technology, and Talent”

At the Shanmei Academy in Haifeng County, Assistant Professor Zhao Leilei delivered a lecture on “Coordinated Promotion of the Integrated Development of Education, Science and Technology, and Talent.”

Zhao reviewed the development process of the integration of education, science, and talent since the 18th CPC National Congress and outlined its historical evolution. She analyzed the Third Plenary Session’s proposals on reforming mechanisms and systems for integrated development in these areas, and—drawing on the progress made since the Third Plenary Session of the 18th CPC Central Committee—discussed future directions for building a “three-in-one” structure that fosters synergy among education, technology, and human resources.

The Haifeng County publicity authorities attached great importance to and strongly supported this lecture series. The Haifeng County Integrated Media Center conducted interviews with representatives from the Shenzhen University School of Marxism, staff from the Haifeng County and Haicheng Town New Era Civilization Practice Centers, as well as attendees. A related report aired that evening on Haifeng News.

In the interview, Associate Professor Liu Huayun remarked that the partnership between the Shenzhen University School of Marxism and the Haifeng County New Era Civilization Practice Center represents a “two-way journey” of theory and practice—bringing the Party’s spirit and directives directly to the grassroots. He noted that grassroots theoretical education will continue to enhance the theoretical capacity of local cadres, strengthen talent cultivation, and provide solid intellectual and moral support for local economic and social development as well as the “Hundreds-Thousands-Tens of Thousands Project.”
