    Date:2025-03-28

At the beginning of the new semester, the School of Marxism, based on student needs, carried out a series of activities such as thematic education, dormitory visits, student work meetings, and special work conferences. These activities aimed to empower all students with a positive and energetic new outlook for the semester through a comprehensive and multi-level approach of “ideological guidance – care and nurturing – safety assurance – targeted support.”

    Thematic Education: Strengthening Ideological Guidance

On February 26, in the 2623 Conference Room of Huiwen Building, Wang Ping, the Party Secretary of the School of Marxism, conducted thematic education for all students for the Spring Semester of 2025.

She guided students in various aspects such as safety, discipline, health, study, and social interactions, urging them to approach the new semester with enthusiasm and strong conviction. Wang Ping provided a detailed interpretation of school rules and regulations, using vivid case studies to further reinforce students’ awareness of safety, discipline, and boundaries. She reminded students to set clear goals early, make reasonable academic and career plans, and reflect on whether their goals and actions align, adjusting discrepancies in a timely manner to strive for success. She emphasized that graduate students should maintain respect for academic work, cultivate professional interests with a rigorous learning attitude and a strong sense of responsibility, and foster a good academic atmosphere. She encouraged students to develop a habit of exercising to improve their physical health, enrich their psychological experiences, and improve both their academic efficiency and life quality.

Dormitory Visits: Building a “Bridge of Hearts” Between Teachers and Students

On the afternoon of March 7, Wang Hong, Party Secretary of the School of Marxism, Liu Zhi, Dean, Wang Ping, Deputy Party Secretary, and counselor Bian Keping visited student dormitories for the new semester’s first visit. During the visit, the faculty members engaged in friendly conversations with students to better understand their adjustment to returning to school, academic plans, and living needs. They also focused on inspecting dormitory safety and hygiene, addressing students’ concerns on-site.

Secretary Wang Hong mentioned that dormitory visits would be regularly conducted, establishing a normalized communication mechanism to ensure students' concerns are promptly addressed. Dean Liu Zhi emphasized the importance of dormitories as the "first front" of student life on campus. He encouraged students to approach academic challenges with the spirit of "strengthening oneself" and continuously improve in pursuit of excellence. Additionally, the teachers discussed other issues of concern to students, offering specific solutions and advice. They expressed the School's ongoing commitment to addressing students' academic and life issues, creating a warm, harmonious, and positive campus atmosphere.

Training Student Leaders: Building a Positive Academic Atmosphere

On March 17, the School of Marxism held a student leader meeting in the 1600 Conference Room of Huiwen Building. Counselor Bian Keping outlined the “Eight Must Report” work and reminded student leaders to pay close attention to the dynamics of their peers, addressing psychological health issues, academic difficulties, and dormitory conflicts in a proactive manner: "early detection, early reporting, early intervention."

Based on the practical realities of student work, Bian Keping gave a detailed explanation of the "Eight Must Report" contents and procedures, emphasizing that student leaders should play a bridging role, assisting the School by regularly gathering information and establishing feedback channels, thereby helping build a strong safety network for students. She urged student leaders to set an example, demonstrate leadership, care for their peers, identify problems promptly, and foster a positive environment for the School and academic work.

Pooling Strength: Fostering a Collaborative Effort in Student Development

On March 27, the School of Marxism held a graduate student mentor meeting in the 2623 Conference Room of Huiwen Building, with all graduate mentors in attendance. The meeting focused on the theme of "caring for, supporting, and assisting students," highlighting mentors' crucial role as the primary responsible parties for graduate student development. The mentors were reminded to guide students comprehensively in academic work, psychological health, and career support.

Dean Liu Zhi proposed that mentors should strengthen their sense of responsibility for fostering moral education, provide tailored guidance and humanistic care, and build a harmonious teacher-student growth community. Mentors were encouraged to carefully manage the stages of student development—“entry,” “process,” and “exit”—to focus on students’ academic progress, mental health, and employment support, leveraging available resources to help students find appropriate positions and ensure smooth graduation and integration into society. During the meeting, faculty members discussed optimizing graduate curriculum, improving teaching case repositories, and enhancing employment guidance, proposing regular conversations and early warning mechanisms to solve students’ practical issues.

In the new semester, the School of Marxism will continue to deepen the comprehensive reform of “whole-person education,” with a focus on “integrating into students’ lives, addressing their needs, and supporting their growth.” Through institutional innovation and heartwarming services, the School is committed to cultivating a new generation of students with a deep sense of national responsibility, theoretical literacy, and practical ability.
